Polson Chamber hands out annual awards

Members of the Polson Chamber of Commerce honored those members of the community who had a special impact during the past year.

The following awards were presented at a celebration held Jan. 13:

Not-for-Profit Business of the Year — The Boys & Girls Club of the Flathead Reservation & Lake County. With a club in Ronan and another in Polson, the organization and its programs provide a vital service and safe learning environment for the children of the community.

Andy Anderson Memorial Award for Community Volunteer of the Year — Joslyn Shackelford. An owner, with her husband Mark, of Alpine Landscape & Design, she has a organized the Polson Parade of Lights, volunteers on the Polson Business Community board and offers her special floral designs to beautify Polson.

John Tiskus Memorial Award for Citizen of the Year — Laura Miskimins. Miskimins organizes and teaches a Boot Camp Charity Class on Saturdays. Students are encouraged to donate to the charity of the month as a fee for the class. Miskimins donates her time and Mission Fitness donates the meeting space.

Randy Ingram Leadership Award — Polson Police Chief Wade Nash. The award recognizes a citizen who exhibits outstanding community leadership, giving unselfishly of their time to better our community. Chief Nash volunteers his time as a mentor and coach to several youth programs while working to maintain a strong relationship between the department and community.

Business of the Year —Total Screen Design. The company provides screen printing and embroidered apparel. Total Screen Design goes beyond providing jobs in the community by encouraging volunteerism and by their support of the Polson Chamber and its mission.
