Richard LeGassey, 70

Richard LeGassey, 70, loving husband and father, of Oakville, Connecticut, passed away on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband of Marie (Clement)LeGassey.

Richard was born Nov. 2, 1947, in Union, South Carolina, the son of Eugene and Helen (Gossett) LeGassey. He worked at Conn-Form for 20 years as a tool setter and also at Waterbury Buckle for 20 years until his retirement.

Richard enjoyed reading the Bible, traveling the country, fishing, doing crossword puzzles, and anything that had to do with music. He was an avid sports car lover. He was always happiest while spending time with his family.

Richard was a dedicated and loving father, husband and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known and loved him.

Besides his wife of 49 years, Marie, Richard is survived by his children, Rick LeGassey and his wife Faith-Ann of Waterbury, Eric LeGassey and his wife Jeni of Kalispell, David LeGassey and his wife Teri of San Tan Valley, Arizona, Jeremy LeGassey and his wife Shannon of Terryville, Connecticut, and Nicole Cohen and her husband, Seth of Bristol, Conn-ecticut. Richard is also survived by his brother-in-law, Edward Palomba; and his siblings, James LeGassey (Lily) and Mary Fac; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, as well as members of the Clement family who were his extended family.

Richard was predeceased by his parents and sister, Susan Palomba.

Funeral services for Mr. LeGassey will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, at Calvary Life Center, 151 Grassy Hill Road, Waterbury. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may visit with Richard’s family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday evening at O’Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St., Oakville.
