Janie Pierce Fagerland, 90

| January 24, 2018 12:43 PM

Janie, 90, of Kalispell passed away peacefully on Jan. 5, 2018, with her family by her side.

She was born in Kalispell on April 26, 1927, and raised in Bigfork for most of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Margaret Pierce; her husband, Kornel “Skip” Fagerland, on Nov. 5, 1990; and her brother, Al Pierce, on Feb. 9, 2014.

Janie is survived by her son, Keyvin (Rosanna) Fagerland; daughter, Deb (Steve) Bertelsen; grandchildren, Keevin (Brooke) Bertelsen, Steven (Katie) Bertelsen, Shanelle (Scott) Palmer, Niko Swift, Jayce (Kaity) Fagerland and Bryce Fagerland; great-grandchildren, Sienna, Sladen, Saraya Palmer, Bridger Fagerland, Bransen Holzer and Neil Ray Bertelsen; and her partner for over 25 years, Marlin Metcalf.

Janie’s passion was golfing. She was very competitive on the golf course in which she won several club championships. She loved golfing with the girls and traveling to other golf courses to compete in their invitational tournaments. The only thing that would keep her off the course was to watch her grandkids participate in their baseball and football. She was their biggest cheerleader! Marlin and Janie wouldn’t leave in the fall to winter in Thousand Palms until the football seasons were over. She will be greatly missed.

Graveside services were held Jan. 9 at Glacier Memorial Gardens. There will be a celebration of life this summer at the Buffalo Hill Golf Course, to be announced at a later date.
