Six local players on West team for Shrine Game
Players from Columbia Falls, Flathead and Polson will be on the field tonight at Memorial Stadium in Great Falls for the 72nd Montana East-West Shrine Football game.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Competing for the West are center Hayden Falkner, quarterback Austin Green and safety Ben Windauer of Columbia Falls; guard Hunter Wellcome and defensive lineman Michael Lee of Flathead; and tight end Haden Smith of Polson.
Kelly Houle of Columbia Falls is an assistant coach with the West. Kyle Mihelish of Helena Capital is the head coach.
Levi Wesche of Bozeman is the East head coach.
First played in 1947, the East-West Shrine game features players from all four Montana high school classifications as well as Canada and raises money for the Shriner’s Hospital for Children In Spokane, Washington.
The East, which won last year’s game 38-24 in Billings, leads the series 39-32.
Last year’s West roster had players from Bigfork (1), Columbia Falls (7), Eureka (3), Flathead (2), Glacier (5), Polson (2) and Whitefish (2).
