Volunteers needed for backpack distribution event

Children in need from Evergreen Elementary, Helena Flats, Deer Park, Smith Valley, Kila and Marion schools will get a special day of fun on Aug. 11 as the Kalispell Moose Lodge 1922 holds a community-service event at the Moose Lodge, 2158 U.S. 2 E. in Evergreen.

A total of 180 children chosen by their schools will receive backpacks filled with school supplies, and will partake in games for all ages K-8, a bounce house, dunk house and horse rides.

Local businesses and individuals donated items and money for the backpacks and school supplies.

Backpacks for Kids chairwoman Kathy Van Dyke said volunteer help is needed at the event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 212-6227 if you can help.
