Helen L. DeShais, 90

Helen passed away June 8, 2018, peacefully at Timber Creek Village in Columbia Falls, just five days after her 90th birthday.

She was born in Covington, Indiana, June 3, 1928, to Thelma and Harry Sayers. As a baby the family moved to Detroit and later she was raised in Wayne, Michigan.

She met her husband James “Jim” DeShais in high school and they married June 16, 1945. They were together for 72 years.

They have two children, Ron (Deb) DeShais of Hillsboro, Oregon, and Connie (Dave) Konopatzke of Columbia Falls. She has two brothers, John Sayers and Robert (Dondra) Smith, both still living in Michigan.

Helen worked as a bookkeeper at Hearthside Furniture until her retirement. Helen and Jim lived in Garden City, Michigan, prior to moving to Columbia Falls in 1988, after Jim retired from Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan. They had been vacationing in Montana since 1970.

Helen enjoyed traveling, gardening, crocheting, playing cards, bingo, keno and being with family throughout her years.

A private family service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery.
