No. 25462 Legal Notice Glacier Stone Supply LLC (Glacier) submitted an application for an operating permit to the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) seeking authorization to operate two rock quarries on private property in Flathead County. The rock quarries are located in Section 4, Township 27 North, Range 24 East, approximately three miles southeast of Marion, MT. Glacier has previously quarried rock at the two sites under a small miner exclusion statement and is applying for an operating permit due to the size limitations applicable to operations conducted under a small miner exclusion statement. Rock would be removed from the two sites using heavy equipment such as bulldozers, loaders, and backhoes. Generally, the rock would be quarried from rock outcrops and /or talus slopes. The quarry operations, however, may include possible drilling and blasting. Access to the quarry sites is by public and private roads. Roads constructed to access the quarries would be reclaimed at closure or left for private access at the request of the property owner. The mine life is projected to be up to twenty-five years. DEQ has prepared a Draft Environmental Assessment (Draft EA) to analyze the potential environmental impacts of the proposed operation. No. 25469 LEGAL NOTICE Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) proposes to renovate 49 acres of the Foys Bend Fisheries Conservation Area's (FCA) existing hay fields back to productive alfalfa hay. Field renovation will restore agricultural productivity, reduce noxious weed encroachment, provide forage for wildlife, and reduce property management costs. To achieve renovation at no cost to the department, FWP will lease hay fields to a local grower who, over a 4-year period, will transition fields back into productive alfalfa hay fields.
