Potbelly makes the great escape
Someone called the Kalispell Police Department to report a potbelly pig that was running down the road. She said it appeared to be a pet and wanted it picked up. An officer attempted to locate the owners of the pig without success.
A caller reporter a man laying on a sleeping bag outside a parked truck between the early childhood center and arts and tech building. An officer determined the man was a student sleeping between classes.
A elderly woman called from a casino to report a man was abusing her. She said he was supposed to be looking after her. She said he hadn’t been physical with her, but she reported he had yanked on her car door and wanted in. The man said he was 600 miles from home, located in Oregon, and had driven her to Kalispell for a hearing. After speaking with both, an officer determined she would drive back to Oregon and the man would figure something else out.
Someone reported to police that a gray Ford Ranger with red and blue lights was trying to pull someone over. The vehicle didn’t have any law enforcement markings and the driver wasn’t in uniform.
A limping and worn-out looking German Shepherd got a ride to the county shelter after a caller reported it. When an officer called the number on the collar, no one answered.
A caller reported a suspicious person using a flashlight to look into a home across the street. When an officer spoke to the person, he discovered he was doing a paper route, was new to the area, and was using the flashlight to find house numbers.
A woman called to report that her 17-year-old daughter had stolen her credit card.
A person called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to report a driver tailgating her from Whitefish to Kalispell on U.S. 93. She said the other driver also tried to run her off the road and was yelling at her.
A deputy checked on a woman who had a bandage on her head and was sitting near U.S. 2 close to the waterslides. She told the officer she had been a transient her entire life and was never issued a state identification. The woman eventually moved on.
A woman called to report her ex-husband had choked their 10-year-old son during Memorial Day weekend in the Columbia Falls area. He then returned to the front porch with his wife and opened a beer.
A caller reported his father has been beating him as well as buying and selling steroids. He wanted advice on how to handle the situation, but also wanted to remain anonymous.
A woman called to report two men who allegedly stole her purse from her car while it was parked in the driveway. She said one came to the door and distracted her while the other grabbed the purse.
A motorcyclist collided with a deer on U.S. 93 in Whitefish. The driver, who was wearing a helmet, was conscious and was taken to the hospital.
A ligtning strike caused a tree fire near the fire hall in Bigfork. It was quickly extinguished.
A caller reported that a man drove to a restaurant drunk with three children inside. The man had a warrant for his arrest and he was taken to the hospital for a blood test before heading to the county jail. A call was made to child protective services to help with the kids.
