Take your accusation and shelve it

A woman was falsely accused of shoplifting at an area grocery store. Someone from the store reported to the Kalispell Police Department that she stuck ice cream in her purse, but an officer determined she had placed it back on the shelf. She said it was the second time she had been accused of shoplifting at the store and she said she would be filing a complaint.

A man who was working in a ditch pulling weeds reported that someone threw fireworks at him. Fortunately, the man wasn’t injured.

A person called after getting into a fight with her neighbor because their water system flooded her yard. The neighbor used profane language. An officer separated them and advised them on how to handle the situation.

Two callers reported a fight between a trio of men with baseball bats. An officer couldn’t locate anyone after arriving on the scene.

A woman called to report that her 12-year-old niece was missing after she allowed her to walk to a convenience store with her dog. She checked with the area of the store, but didn’t see her. An officer soon located the girl and took her back to her aunt and mother.

A man became upset when a Montana Highway Patrol trooper told him it was unlawful to set off fireworks inside Kalispell city limits. A Kalispell police officer also responded and explained the ordinance to the man, who then apologized.

A person reported heavy smoke rolling out of the roof, but it turned out to be from a wood stove smoke pipe.

A blue-haired juvenile male and his friend stole two sodas from a store, according to a caller. One of them was wearing a black and white pancho-looking coat.

Yet another way to mistakenly dial 911 was discovered when a person explained that he was training a new employee how to fax. He dialed “9”, then “1”, but the trainee held the “1” down too long.

A person reported her six-month-old child’s Social Security number was stolen.

A maintenance technician reported finding drug paraphernalia in a baggy. An officer determined there was a makeshift foil pipe and a grey bindle bag with white residue in it. It was scheduled for destruction.

A group of construction workers turned their radios down after a caller reported their loud music.

A caller reported the theft of four birdfeeders and two large plants to the Whitefish Police Department. The incidents happened in the last week, but there was no video footage of the crime.

An ankle-biting Chihuahua mix was running at large in the Columbia Avenue area. The caller wanted an officer to speak to the owners.

A man waxing a store floor called to report that he was pushed by a man after the caller grabbed him when he walked on the cleaned floor.
