Orphan Art Sale to benefit Hockaday Museum of Art

Local artists are giving back to the Hockaday Museum of Art this weekend at a fundraising art sale featuring pieces from their personal archives in celebration of the museum’s 50 year anniversary. The Artists Give Back 2018: Orphan Art Sale will include artwork donated by more than 30 professional artists from around the Flathead Valley and Northwest Montana.

The event will be held from 7-10 p.m. on Saturday, March 3 at the Grouse Mountain Lodge in Whitefish. Guests will enjoy live music and light appetizers, and a full cash bar will also be available. A raffle giveaway will include prizes provided by numerous local businesses such as Desoto Grill, Ciao Mambo, Craggy Range Bar and Grill, Eagle Bend Golf Course and Northern Pines Golf Club. Tickets are $15 for members and $25 for non-members which may be purchased at the door or in advance by calling the museum at 755-5268.

Among the artists participating in the event are Richie Carter, Nancy Dunlop Cawdrey, Colt Idol, Karen Leigh, Mark Ogle, Tom Saubert, Sally Vannoy, Rachel Warner and Kenneth Yarus. The pieces they’ll contribute reflect the region’s rich artistic talent and many showcase the natural beauty of Northwest Montana. Artists Give Back 2018: Orphan Art Sale will help support exhibitions beginning this summer that highlight the Hockaday’s 50-year history and its crucial role in the region’s arts scene.

The Hockaday Museum of Art is located in the cultural district of downtown Kalispell at 302 Second Ave. East. The museum is a private nonprofit organization open year-round, Tuesday through Saturday. The mission of the Hockaday is to enrich the cultural life of the local community and preserve the artistic legacy of Montana and Glacier National Park.
