“The Light”
By Kathy Stadick
He let me peek at my future through the door,
I saw fields of flowers and so much more.
He said, “You are my child, dear Betty.
Come, but only when you are ready.”
I told my family I was tired and weary.
I saw one by one their eyes get teary.
They gave me permission one and all,
To answer my Father’s call.
I rested some before I knocked on Heaven’s gate,
I knew the timing was right, I wasn’t late.
This time the light made me squint as I entered in,
It was as I had imagined it had always been.
That field I saw, I am walking it through,
And I am five foot nine again, I grew!
As I am not alone, I will see you again,
My family, my pets, and my dear friends.
