Bigfork girls bow out to Deer Lodge at Class B state tourney

MISSOULA — The girls basketball season for Bigfork ended on a down note as the Valkyries lost to Deer Lodge 49-36 on Saturday in a loser-out contest at Missoula Sentinel High school.

The win advanced Deer Lodge to the third/fourth place game later in the day.

Bigfork held a slim 9-8 lead after the first quarter, but fell behind at the half 18-17.

Deer Lodge outscored Bigfork 31-19 in the second half to pull away.

Bigfork did not have a player in double-figure scoring. Jaime Berg was the high-point player with eight.

Rilee Gray had 12 points for Deer Lodge.

Bigfork finished the season with a 21-3 record.
