Elliott, Johnson all-state in Class AA hoops
Flathead’s Sam Elliott and Tyler Johnson earned spots on the Class AA boys basketball all-state team released Monday.
The all-state team, which is voted on by Class AA coaches, features first-team all-conference honorees from the East and West.
Elliott and Johnson led Flathead to its first top-3 finish in the Western conference since the 2009-10 season.
Elliott, a senior post, ranked second in the state in rebounds with 9.2 per game and was 14th in Class AA scoring with 12.9 points per game. He was also fourth in blocks with 22 on the campaign.
A senior wing, Johnson checked in at fourth in the state in scoring with 17.7 points per game. He was 10th in the state with a free-throw percentage of 79.4.
The Flathead Valley boasted two boys and three girls on the all-Western conference second teams.
Flathead point guard Eric Seaman and Glacier wing Brec Rademacher were named second-team all-conference for the boys, and Glacier’s Anna Schrade and Kali Gulick joined Flathead guard Clara Vandenbosch on the girls second team.
Glacier’s Caden Harkins, Drew Engellant and Kody Jarvis all earned boys all-conference honorable mention status. Flathead post Mary Heaton and Glacier guard Cadie Williams garnered girls all-conference honorable mention notice.
Schrade, Gulick, Williams and Ellie Stevens were also honored for their performance at last weekend’s state tournament in Billings.
Schrade was placed on the second-team all-tournament squad while Gulick, Williams and Stevens were honorable mention.
Collin Kazmier and Nick Whitman were all-tournament honorable mentions for the Glacier boys.
Great Falls CMR forward Garrison Rothwell was the boys tournament MVP, and Jamie Pickens and Kamden Hilborn, both of Helena High, shared girls MVP honors.
