A group of about 20 Whitefish High School students marched through downtown Whitefish Wednesday morning chanting, “no more violence.” A walkout at 10 a.m. had been called for across the country by the Women’s March Youth Empower #Enough National School Walkout initiative on the one-month anniversary of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Students across the nation held walkouts at 10 a.m. on Wednesday for 17 minutes to honor the 17 victims killed in the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
Bigfork, Glacier, Flathead, Columbia Falls and Whitefish high school students participated in local events.
Some Columbia Falls High School students held a counter protest Wednesday to honor the victims while also supporting gun rights.
