Polson girls sweep Libby, Hamilton in tennis
POLSON — The Polson girls cruised by Libby and Hamilton while the Pirate boys split their matches in season-opening tennis action at Linderman tennis courts on Friday morning.
Polson’s girls swept Hamilton 7-0 behind two defaults and a forfeit. They had only slightly more trouble with the visiting Loggers, who the Pirates dispensed of 5-2.
Berkely Ellis and Sharmaine Zempel each earned straight-set victories in singles matches against Libby, and Megan Post and Ara Mercer eased by their Logger opponents 6-2, 6-3 in a doubles match.
Zempel also joined Elizabeth Violett to win a doubles match in straight sets against Hamilton.
Abigail Creighton picked up Libby’s lone singles win in straight sets, while Morgan Snyder and Madison Snyder won their doubles match 6-2, 6-3.
The Polson boys met little resistance in their opener versus Libby, which they beat 7-0.
Johnny Moore, Kaiden Forman-Webster and Kendal Forman-Webster all earned singles wins in straight sets. Carson McDaniel/Sam Schultz and Trevor Schultz/Joe McDonald did the same in doubles matches.
The Pirate boys fell to Hamilton 5-2 in their finale.
The Broncs did most of their damage in the singles matches. Hamilton won all four, including three in straight sets.
Polson rebounded to take two doubles matches.
Kendal Forman-Webster/Trevor Schultz and Alex Mausshardt/Anton Lefthand won their matches in straight sets.
Polson returns to action today with two matchups — Missoula Loyola at 9 a.m. and Corvallis at 3 p.m. Libby is back on the court at 3 p.m. on April 5 for a Northwest A conference contest versus Ronan.
