Pirate boys 3rd, girls 5th at Gene Hughes

CORVALLIS — The Polson boys finished third while the girls took fifth in season-opening track action on Saturday at the Gene Hughes Invitational.

Connor Lanier and Colton Cote each won individual titles for the Polson boys, Lanier in the 110-meter high hurdles and Cote in the 300-meter hurdles. Cote also grabbed a podium spot by finishing third in the 110-meter high hurdles, and Lanier was third in the triple jump.

Bea Frissell captured the Pirate girls’ lone individual title, finishing the 800-meter in 2:32.37 to edge Frenchtown’s Abigail Sherwood by just more than half a second. Frissell also finished second in the 400-meter run.

Naima Crowl and Mikaela Ducharme also recorded second-place finishes for Polson in the 1600-meter run and triple jump, respectively.

The Polson boys logged a second-place finish in the 400 relay.

The Polson girls 1600 relay team came in third.

Polson is back on the track April 7 at the Frenchtown Invitational.
