'The Trump effect' is in the eye of the beholder

As evidenced by “The Trump Effect” op-ed in the April 15 Daily Inter Lake, the hypocrisy of the anti-Trumpers is getting almost too comical to describe. As usual, the Alinsky tactics are on full display, accusing the target with no regard for truth, and most assuredly blaming the target for the same things the writer does. Donald Trump is portrayed as “...the vindictive and impulsive demagogue posing as the 45th president...” Later on, Trump is called “...a man so insecure that he has made as one of his primary objectives the denigration — or total obliteration — of the legacy of his predecessor...”, Trump’s predecessor being Barack Obama. I don’t make the charge of hypocrisy lightly, but if Donald Trump is some kind of demagogue, he doesn’t hold a candle to Barack Obama, hence my use of the term.

The writer seems obsessed by Trump’s alleged drive to win at any cost. Hmm. He was duly elected by the people, and we’re witnessing the reason the Constitution writers gave us the Electoral College. As for winning at any cost, we’ve seen what a whiner Hillary is, and we’ve heard her lame-blame-game, so if that’s what you want in the oval office, don’t let anybody deter you.

For the record, I agree with the writer’s assessment of Congress, “...all too many of our elected leaders have been complicit by their cowardice, their acquiescence, or their own selfish ambition.” It’s the big reason I helped elect Donald Trump, because he called Washington a swamp. President Trump has delivered more than I ever expected regarding his campaign promises. Our GOP Congress still hasn’t overturned Obamacare. The writer has it right by saying our founders must be turning over in their graves, but not for the reason the writer insinuates. There’s no way they’re turning over because of Donald Trump. And oh, by the way, I’m a proud member of Hillary’s deplorables.

Perhaps Donald Trump was a sexploiter. That doesn’t bother me one bit, because so far, he hasn’t been accused of rape. Sexploiting goes both ways. As for his alleged lies, I guess I’m used to lies from Washington. And from the media. My opinion is that President Trump’s alleged lies are only part of the anti-Trump fake news obsession we’re seeing.

The writer asked if I know what’s going on. I sure do.

Responding to a question about overturning Roe v. Wade, every true Christian wants Roe v. Wade overturned, whether by Republican, Democrat or Mickey Mouse.

Finishing up, as long as we continue to allow the Treasury to print fiat money, Washington will remain a swamp, and Donald Trump will never fix it. The other point I’ll make is to question what Obama’s legacy will be. I understand that, based on an originalist reading of the U.S. Constitution, he was an unlawful president, not being a natural-born citizen because his father is not a U.S. citizen. Too many people confuse natural born with native born. Natural-born citizenship simply means being born with the citizenship of the parents, as in being born with the genetic traits of the parents. John McCain was therefore said to be a natural-born U.S. citizen even though he was born in Panama. Senate Resolution 511 says so, explicitly acknowledging that he was born to citizen parents. It’s interesting that both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton sat on Senate Resolution 511, so why didn’t Hillary hold Obama to the same standard McCain was held to? Notice how it opened things up for three GOP presidential wannabes in 2016, most particularly Ted Cruz, to falsely claim natural-born citizenship. Ted Cruz, the so-called constitutional expert, doesn’t even come close, and he said it’s a matter of established law. What law, Ted? As for Obama’s legacy, what about the legacy of Congress? Obama pulled a fast one, with the tacit approval of every sitting member of Congress. Donald Trump spoke truth when he said Washington is a swamp. It’s sad that the truth offends too many people.

There’s only one political party anymore, career politicians who are out to win at any cost, your cost and mine. I have no hope that the U.S. will ever return to true liberty, but it’s OK. Jesus has already taken care of things.
