| May 3, 2018 8:08 PM

Flathead Electric Cooperative is warning people that some members have received fraudulent phone calls from people posing as co-op employees.

The impostors threaten to shut off power to the home or business if payment is not made immediately. In the some cases, the Caller ID function of the telephone even lists Flathead Electric Cooperative.

The co-op says is not the policy of the electric company to ask personal questions of its members or to threaten members with immediate disconnect if there is a balance on their account.

For those receiving a call similar to those reported, people are advised to not release personal or financial information, and to notify the co-op by calling 751-4483. Local law enforcement agencies should also be advised when illegal activity is suspected.
