This weekend, hundreds of competitors from all over will be traversing trails and completing obstacles that require strength and nimble feet at the annual Spartan Race in Bigfork.

The event, staged at Flathead Lake Lodge, will take place Friday, May 4 through Sunday, May 6, and will include races of various lengths and skill levels, including some specially tailored for children.

The “beast” category race on Saturday is more than 12 miles long with up to 35 obstacles. The 3.5-mile sprint race is on Sunday and includes up to 23 obstacles. A slate of children’s races take place on both Saturday and Sunday.

Spectator tickets are $20 online until Friday or $25 at the entry gate.

The events begin Friday with an open house from 3 to 5 p.m. at Flathead Lake Lodge. There will be practice obstacles, merchandise and a chance to soak up some “pre-race vibe.”

That will be followed by a “Beast Feast Athlete Dinner” at 6 p.m. at the Flathead County Trade Center in Kalispell, and will feature a farm-to-table menu. Tickets are $60 for adults and $10 for kids. The dinner will feature guest speakers, including Spartan pro athlete Ben Greenfield. There will also be raffles and giveaways.
