Sparks fly in landlord-tenant dispute

A man called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report a confrontation with his landlord after a power company worker came to change his meter. The landlord, who the man said was also his friend, followed him into the house and confronted him about what was going on. He said they were inches from each other and he told the landlord to back off. When he didn’t, he pushed him back and they separated. The man didn’t want to press charges.

Someone called to ask where she could take a pet rabbit that had been dropped off at her home. Police responded with advice on what to do with the rabbit.

Someone called to report a black lab on the loose in the area of Marantette Park. Police didn’t catch up to dog but it was seen heading east on 3rd Avenue, hopefully home.

A burned bag of rice in a microwave sent first responders to a home after a person called to report a beeping sound where an elderly woman lives. Firefighters removed the microwave and bag of rice. There was a strong odor of smoke. Medical personnel checked on the woman and a nurse arrived to stay with her the rest of the night.

Someone came to the department to report a Craigslist scam. The person had her personal address and received a check in the mail.

Someone called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Department to report a black Great Dane named Gus chasing a lady in her car. When Gus’ owner spoke with a deputy, she said the dog had figured out how to unlatch the gate. She said she would correct the problem and a deputy determined she did.

A woman called to report that her friend capsized her kayak in Little Bitteroot Lake and was stranded on an island. She eventually was able to make it back on her own.

A person called to report someone left meat on her driveway. She wanted it tested because she believed it could be tainted. She said she believed it was done because the person doesn’t like her dog and also said they were in a legal dispute. She was advised to have the meat tested and she said she would contact a deputy when she found out the test result.

Someone called to report a suspicious-looking man walking down a street in Kalispell with a machete around his waist.

A person called to report his neighbor shot at him with a high-powered rifle. He said he’s had ongoing problems with wires being cut and glass and wood being placed on the road.

A man called to report an ongoing problem with three dogs running at large that have chased deer into his yard. He tried to take care of it in an amicable way, but was not getting much cooperation.

Deputies collected some blasting caps in Kalispell after receiving a call from a concerned person.

A city employee called the Kalispell Police Department to report someone grayed out the yellow curbing and wrote “My Home” in the space. The public works department said they would take care of it.

Someone from the health department called to report a person got into a fight with the owner of a pit bull. The dog reportedly came up from behind her and bit her on both legs, breaking the skin. When police met with the owner, they verified it had its rabies shots.

A woman called to report someone attempting to break into her car because she has a medical marijuana card and keeps her medicine in the vehicle. She said she has a pretty good idea of who the suspect is.

Someone reported a shoplifting in progress and the person was “higher than a kite,” dropping needles and her dope bag. Police said she didn’t attempt to leave the store but she was taking tags off items. She said she was waiting for her boyfriend to return to pay for the items. Charges were not filed but she was removed from the store.
