Cornered chicken gets reprieve

Someone called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to report a young pitbull had slipped its collar and had a chicken cornered in a neighbor’s yard. The dog was placed back on its lead and a door notice was posted at the owner’s property.

A person called to report a dark-colored horse on the loose near Segiah Way.

Someone reported seeing a man leaving a blue tent in the woods on Woodland Ave. in Kalispell. The person was concerned because it was believed the property was private. A deputy found the camp site unoccupied, but was going to check back later.

When law enforcement checked on a 911 hangup call, they discovered it was a truck driver from Wisconsin. The man said he had received repeated calls from a Montana number and when he called back, it sent him to 911. An officer confirmed the man’s report.

A Kalispell woman got her purse back after the efforts of two law enforcement officers. A Columbia Falls officer was behind a vehicle when a purse fell of it. He picked it up and a sheriff’s deputy later returned it to the woman.

Someone called to report that her husband had left a cryptic note that he was leaving her. She had tried to reach him without success. She was advised she could speak with a divorce attorney if she wished.

A person was hired to turn all sorts of stuff into compost, but had not been paid yet. The company that hired him kept saying the check was in the mail. The man was told to report it to authorities.

Someone called to report repeated speeding in the neighborhood by a person driving a 4-wheeler or side-by-side.

Someone called to report a person had shot at their window. She didn’t see anyone, but reported that a BB was still in the window.

Someone called the Kalispell Police Department to report hearing three gun shots. They turned out to be by the honor guard at the funeral home.

A person called to report a woman yelling through the door of a room at a man. The woman was registered to the room and she was allowed to stay, but the man needed to go. The parties were separated for the night.

Someone called to report three large dogs, possibly a German shepherd or huskies, off their leashes and chasing ducks in the pond. The dog owner eventually got her animals under control and no ducks were injured.

A man was cited for unauthorized use of a vehicle after someone reported it was stolen. The man returned to the hospital and security officers followed him before he tried to escape on foot. He was eventually apprehended.

A person called to report a thin man with sandy, blond hair that was panhandling outside of an area business. The person felt the man had the potential to become aggressive because he was talking to himself after people left. When officers checked the area, no one matching the description was seen.

Someone called to report two men who tried to talk to her daughter before they saw her. The woman said the men were possibly on drugs and were staring at her daughter while making a few comments.

A person called to report a suspicious bag. It turned out to contain food.

Someone called to report a man at the store approached her in a very “creepy-like” manner. He reportedly hovered over her and followed her out to the parking lot. He was described as wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans with large holes in his ear lobes.

A person called to report a passenger in her car jumped out in the mall parking lot because he was upset about not getting his new phone. The landing left the teen knocked out with a bloody nose and a cut above his eye. A few minutes later, he was conscious and speaking.

A passerby called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report an outside dispute involving four adults and a baby. The adults were yelling at each other and wanted the man to leave. He would drive away and then return. Police later dropped off keys to the woman, who had the child and needed the vehicle. Police wrote a citation for a man involved for driving on a suspended license.
