Begg Park will reopen for use on Tuesday with new amenities for both dogs and their owners.

The Kalispell dog park closed in late March due to flooding, and according to city parks superintendent Fred Bicha, it remained closed after the flooding ebbed to give the grass time to grow.

During the closure, volunteers with Paws to Play planted around 15 new trees in the park and city workers implemented a new water fountain for both human and canine visitors, a bike rack and a message board.

Bicha said most of the parking lot has also been repaved, and he hopes to finish the remainder of the paving project, put in additional waste containers and implement a footbridge over the ditch between the lot and the park in the near future.

Diane Bokor with Paws to Play said that visitors should expect a few short closures in the future as the remaining amenities are implemented.

Begg Park is located in South Kalispell off Airport Road.
