Bigfork girls, Eureka boys Western B track champs

FRENCHTOWN — The Bigfork girls won every race but the 300 hurdles en route to the Western B divisional track title on Friday.

The Valkyries had double winners with Haile Norred (100 and 200), Bryn Morley (400 and 1,600) and Anya Young (800 and 3,200).

Bigfork’s Madison Gardiner finished first in the 110 hurdles and was second behind Kamryn Scully of Deer Lodge in the 300 hurdles.

Jordan Nelson of Bigfork was second in three events (100, 200 and 400).

Bigfork won both relays.

That all added up to an easy victory with a team score of 187 for the Valkyries. Deer Lodge, 101 1/2, was second and Eureka, 84, third.

Eureka had two event winners in triple jumper Elizabeth Pacella and javelin thrower Karlee Frost.

The Eureka boys, led by triple winner Chet McCully (110 and 300 hurdles and pole vault) captured team honors with a 122 score. Missoula Loyola, 115, was second and Deer Lodge, 79, third.

Eureka’s other winners were Cory Chaney (800) and Alex Lowe (1,600).

Bigfork’s Anton Young (3,200) and Wyatt Duke (high jump) were event winners. The Bigfork boys, with 55 1/2 points, were fifth.

The top six placers in all events advance to state in Laurel next week.
