A Columbia Falls man is facing charges after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and her daughter during an incident in April.

According to court documents, Michael Bryan Jung, 48, is facing a felony count of assault on a minor and a misdemeanor count of assault on a partner or family member.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the victim contacted the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office on April 24 to report her boyfriend, Jung, had assaulted her and her 12-year-old daughter.

When deputies spoke with the woman, she reported Jung had arrived home drunk, became upset with her daughter and allegedly head-butted her, causing pain and leaving a temporary red mark on her head.

The girl’s mother said she tried to get between her daughter and Jung, but Jung continued to shove her out of the way. The woman said her daughter was eventually able to get outside and get in their truck. The woman and her daughter then left the residence.

Officers then spoke with Jung, who appeared to be intoxicated and belligerent. He was then arrested.

Yung is facing a maximum term of five years in the state prison and a maximum fine of $50,000 for the felony charge. For the misdemeanor charge, Yung is facing a minimum of 24 hours and a maximum of six months in the county jail. He also faces a minimum fine of $100 and a maximum of $500.

Jung was released on his own recognizance.

Jung is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, May 31.
