MISSOULA — The Glacier and Flathead boys finished 1-2 in the Western AA divisional track and field meet, which concluded Saturday.

The Wolfpack totaled 130 points to Flathead’s 115. Both were well clear of third-place Missoula Sentinel’s 85.

Glacier’s Ethan Larson was a double winner with victories in the 100-meter dash (10.84) and the 400 (49.16). Glacier finished 1-2-3 in the 400, as Drew Turner and Mark Estes crossed the line just behind Larson.

Hunter Nicholson won the triple jump (44-1.75) for the Wolfpack, who also won the 1,600 relay (3:28.35).

Ben Perrin of Flathead picked up an individual win for the second consecutive day, this time in the 1,600 (4:18.49). He was victorious in the 3,200 on Friday.

Flathead’s Dawson Rinehart edged teammate Chad Hemsley for the individual title in the 110 hurdles. Hemsley was also second in the 200.

Michael Lee of Flathead posted another second-place finish in the discus after also finishing as the runner-up in the shot put.

Glacier’s Caden Harkins made the podium with a third-place mark in the triple jump.

The Glacier girls finished fifth with 50 points and were led by Adrian Schnee, who finished second in the 400 and third in the high jump.

Flathead, paced by Madison Boles’ second-place finish in the high jump, was sixth with 33 points.

The top six finishers in each event qualified for the state meet this week in Great Falls, though many athletes have already met the benchmarks necessary to qualify with their performances throughout the season.
