Gwen Evangeline Adams Wollan, 94
Gwen Evangeline Adams Wollan passed away May 15, 2018, at the Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Gwen was born Dec. 19, 1923, in Bainville, Montana, to parents Arlington Adams and Angeline Gardiner Adams. She went to school in Bainville until she was 10. When her father passed away she moved to Kiln, Mississippi, for two years. In 1936 the family moved to Kalispell. She graduated from Flathead County High School in 1941. The last year of high school she worked for F.W. Woolworth. In 1943 she moved to Seattle and worked in the shipyards; later that year she moved back to Kalispell and worked for the Coca-Cola bottling company.
She married Melford Wollan in 1947. They moved to the Bissell community in 1953 with their two children.
Gwen’s activities included being a member of the Stillwater Church, 4-H leader, Grange, and Bissell homemakers club. Jobs were working as clerk at Bissell and Olney schools. She was a volunteer at the hospital in Kalispell for three years.
In 1994 Gwen moved to Colville, Washington. She was a volunteer for eight years at the Colville hospital. She was also involved in church and Bible study. In 2002 she moved to Spokane Valley with her son. She made floral arrangements for the state veterans hospital and in 2014 she moved to Coeur d’Alene to Legends Park Assisted Living. She was baptized at the age of 92 at Real Life Ministries and was a member.
She spent her last years listening to books on tape, and enjoying Bible study and church.
Gwen had a special relationship with her nieces and nephews and granddaughters and most people who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include daughter Linda and son-in-law John Gray; son Doug and daughter-in-law Sandie; five granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at Real Life Ministries in Post Falls, Idaho.
