Country artist Corb Lund to make stop in Whitefish

| May 24, 2018 11:32 AM

Award-winning underground country artist Corb Lund has his sights set on the American West, and is bringing his “Western Destinations” tour to more than 30 towns and cities starting May 17. Lund will play at the Remington Bar and Casino in Whitefish on May 31 at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door and may be purchased at www.remingtonbar.com.

“I’ve been wanting to do a tour like this for years and years, so I’m thrilled that it is finally happening. We’re playing a bunch of places we’ve never been before and it’s long overdue,” said Lund. “I grew up in a rodeo and ranching family and I write songs about Western life, so it makes sense for me to do a tour focused on this part of America. My band and I are really looking forward to these shows.”

Lund embraces his Western heritage through his music, touching on a range of cowboy themes past and present — from rough-and-tumble tales of lawless frontier saloons, to the somber realities of running a modern family ranch. “When you come from generations of ranchers and rodeo people, you can’t help but be influenced by the west,” he says.

“Western Destinations” busts out of the chutes at the legendary Miles City Bucking Horse Sale in Miles City on May 17, and kicks up dust in 31 cities in 14 states before closing out at the Braun Brothers Reunion in Challis, Idaho on Aug. 10.

The award-winning singer has been praised by Rolling Stone Country, NPR and the Washington Post, among others, and his music has been featured on the Netflix show The Ranch (including the forthcoming Season 3 premiere). Backed by his longtime honkytonk band, The Hurtin’ Albertans, Lund’s live show is a force to be reckoned with. “Like Willie Nelson before them, they bring out the shitkickers and hipsters in equal measure,” according to the entertainment newsletter, Vegas Seven.
