Libby, Corvallis spikers unbeaten at Western A tourney

WHITEFISH — Northwest teams held the upper hand during the early session on the first day of play at the Western A Divisional volleyball tournament on Thursday.

Libby, Columbia Falls and Whitefish were all 3-0 winners over Butte Central, Stevensville and Dillon.

Corvallis spoiled a sweep by topping Polson 3-0.

In the second round, Libby and Corvallis came through with victories to move on to the semifinal tonight at 6. That winner earns a spot in the championship match on Saturday at noon in the double-elimination event.

Libby defeated Columbia Falls 3-1 while Corvallis blew by Whitefish 3-0.

The top four teams advance to state Nov. 8-10 in Bozeman.
