Bigfork pulls away from Roundup
ROUNDUP — Randy Stultz ran for four scores and Brady Thorness returned an interception for a touchdown and also caught a touchdown pass for Bigfork in the Vikings’ 43-18 quarterfinal victory over Roundup on Saturday afternoon in the Class B football playoffs.
Stultz had touchdown runs of 8, 2, 1 and 35 yards. He finished with 111 yards rushing on 17 attempts.
Bigfork quarterback Anders Epperly was 11 of 17 passing for 217 yards and a touchdown. He was intercepted once.
Thorness totaled four receptions for 85 yards.
Bigfork (9-1) led 10-0 after the opening quarter on Thorness’ pick six and a 30-yard field goal by Jacob Herd.
Roundup (9-1) scored twice in the second quarter to trail 17-12 at the half.
Bigfork found the end zone four times in the second half to pull away.
The Vikings had 426 yards of total offense to 293 for Roundup.
Roundup ran 69 offensive plays to 51 for Bigfork, but the Vikings averaged 8.4 yards per play to 4.2 for Roundup.
Brody Grebe was 11 of 21 passing for Roundup for 132 yards. He also led the team in rushing with 69 yards on 25 carries.
Logan Gilliard and Stultz were the anchors on defense. Gilliard, a linebacker, had five solo tackles and assisted on 14.
Stultz, a defensive back, matched Gilliard in solos and assisted on 13.
Epperly had five solo tackles and an interception.
Bigfork moves on to semifinal action on Saturday at Fairfield, a 34-6 quarterfinal victor over Manhattan.
In the other two quarterfinal games, Big Timber whipped Colstrip 37-6 and Missoula Loyola stomped Huntley Project 56-12.
Loyola plays a semifinal contest at Big Timber on Saturday.
