A parking lot to access cross-country ski trails near Whitefish, a commercial kennel near Echo Lake and a proposed metal fabrication shop in Bigfork are among the applications the Flathead Board of Adjustment will consider at its Dec. 4 meeting.

Glacier Nordic Club, on behalf of F.H. Stoltze Land & Lumber Co., is asking for a conditional-use permit to allow a low-impact recreational facility on about 88 acres along Haskill Basin Road near Whitefish. The property is zoned agricultural with a 20-acre minimum lot size and is within the Haskill Basin Estates Zoning District. The proposed use of the rural land would be a parking lot to accommodate users of nearby cross-country ski trails.

Lisa Batten has applied for a conditional-use permit to operate a commercial kennel on 5 acres at 645 Echo View Drive, in the Echo Lake Zoning District. The property is zoned suburban agricultural with a 5-acre minimum lot size. The Bigfork Land Use Advisory Committee will consider Batten’s request at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 8559 Montana 35 in Bigfork. The committee’s recommendation will be forwarded to the Board of Adjustment.

Daniel and Nikole Vigil are asking for a conditional-use permit for a “Home Occupation” to operate a metal fabrication shop at 9180 Montana 35 in Bigfork. The property is zoned suburban residential. The Bigfork Land Use Advisory Committee will review this request on Nov. 29.

Sands Surveying and Mark Gillette, on behalf of John and Linda Erfle, are asking for a conditional-use permit to build two tri-plexes at 155 Jewel Basin Court on property zoned community business in the Bigfork Zoning District. This application also will go to the Bigfork Land Use Advisory Committee for review on Nov. 29.

Jason and Kristy Williams are asking for a variance from county zoning regulations to place a garage in the front yard of their property at 2475 Mission Trail within the Evergreen Zoning District. The property, less than 1 acre, is zoned one-family limited residential. Zoning rules do not allow accessory structures except fences or hedges in any front yard, and accessory structures can’t be located any closer than 5 feet to a rear or side lot line.

The Board of Adjustment meets at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, in the second-floor conference room of the South Campus Building, 40 11th St. W. in Kalispell.
