Joyce Victoria Belstad, 76

Joyce Victoria Belstad, 76, passed away in Kalispell on Nov. 6, 2018.

Joyce was born on March 16, 1942 in St. John, North Dakota, to Joseph and Mary (McMaster) Cartwright.

Joyce married Jerry Belstad on June 27, 1959, in Stanley, North Dakota. They were married 44 years. Jerry and Joyce came through Kalispell on their honeymoon in 1959 and fell in love with the Flathead Valley and vowed to return. In 1965 they moved to Whitefish and then to Kalispell to raise their three children. Tanya, Jerry and Steven. Jerry opened his own barber shop on Main Street called J bar J and Joyce was instrumental in the success of the barber shop. Joyce was a stay-at-home mom when the children were growing up. She then worked for Rosauers and also had her own cleaning company. She also was a Brownie Girl Scout leader. Joyce enjoyed reading, camping and her dogs. Joyce loved Glacier National Park and always said she felt closer to heaven there.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry Belstad, and grandsons Skylar Belstad and Kyle Linrude.

She is survived by her children, Tanya Belstad, Jerry Belstad and Steve Belstad, all of Kalispell; brothers, Joe Cartwright of Kalispell, and Jim Cartwright of Great Falls; two special nephews, Ardell and Adrian Belstad; and numerous nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Allix, Taylor, Carsen Linrude, JD, Jordan, Paige, Jade, Courtney, Kelsey and Doug Belstad, and Steven Hanson; and great-grandchildren Able Belstad, Emily Belstad, Lenni Howell, Kynlee Howell, Talan Hanson, Cole Hanson, Aleigha Gill and Kyson Belstad.

A celebration of life will be held in the Swan this summer.
