Geraldine Marie Mitton, 98
Geraldine Marie Mitton, 98, our sweet Irish mom passed away Nov. 21, 2018 at her home in Kalispell. She was born May 25, 1920 in Oakdale, NE to Jessie and Margaret Lynch. She was the third oldest of nine children. As a small child she lived in Upton, WY, before moving to Trego. Her childhood was happy times despite having very little. She loved her siblings and loved to reminisce about those adventures and there were lots of them.
On June 30, 1938, she married Edward Mitton at the Presbyterian Church in Kalispell. They celebrated 62 years together before his passing in 2004. Dad and mom lived on a small farm where she worked hard, gardening, canning and sewing and raising four children. She was a school board member, election judges and a 4-H leader. Mom was a lifetime member of the Mt. View Birthday Club and a 20 year+ member of Tops Chapter 360.
Mother was an excellent cook. Her fresh rolls, fried chicken and Duchess Apple Pie were always requested by family and friends and not to be missed.
And she did beautiful hand work, cherished by her family.
In 2008, when her eyesight started to fail her, she moved to town to be near her daughter and son-in-law, where she remained until her death. Mom never complained. When asked how she was, her answer was always “Oh Fine”- and she was always smiling.
