Amanda Adele Tustin, 89

| November 28, 2018 4:00 AM

Amanda Adele Tustin, 89, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018.

She was born Aug. 10, 1929 in San Jose, California to Stillman and Lorraine Pfeffer. Adele was one of five children, with sisters Verda, Lillian, Louise, and brother Albert. She graduated from San Jose State College with a teaching degree and married Charles Tustin in 1953 and taught in San Jose. Adele resided with her husband there and then later in Lake Tahoe, California. She was busy with five young boys; the youngest was born just after the oldest son turned 5.

In 1966, they moved to Coram and Adele resumed teaching in the canyon. She taught for a total of 27 years, and many children passed through her classrooms.

Adele had a heart for kids and taught them not only at home and school, but also at the First Baptist churches in Columbia Falls and Whitefish.

Adele is survived by one sister, Louise; and her sons, Wayne, Warren (and his wife Carol), Wyatt (and his wife Shannan), Willi (and his wife Jeannie) and Whitney (and his wife Colleen); as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gardening was always her passion and in her later years she loved knitting for others — blankets for children and potholders that she gave to those who took care of her during her 19-year bout with cancer.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Hungry Horse Chapel with Pastor Brent Schmidt officiating. Interment services will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia Falls.

Memorials in Adele’s memory can be made to Village Missions, care of Canyon Community Church or the charity of your choice.

Services are under the direction of Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls.

Condolences and memories may be shared with the family on Adele’s webpage at www.columbiamortuary.com
