Bigfork locals will head back to the basics to help fight the chilly winter weather, gathering for community bonfires Friday nights on Dec. 7, 14 and 21 in downtown Bigfork.

Ghost stories and camp songs optional, the bonfires will provide a family friendly event complete with s’mores packages provided by Bigfork ACES and hot beverages by Bigfork Youth Baseball.

Stores and restaurants will also stay open late during the bonfires to help with holiday shopping and dining needs.

“We just had a really motivated community this year that was looking for ways to expand the season,” Bigfork Chamber of Commerce President Rebekah King said.

The winner of the Christmas window decoration contest will be revealed at the Dec. 7 bonfire.

Get your pet’s photo taken with Santa at the Dec. 14 event and enjoy a special visit from two of Santa’s live reindeer on Dec. 21.

“It’s a nice family-oriented place for people to gather, whether they live here or elsewhere in the valley,” said Natalie Polsen, one of the event’s organizers.

Located next to Bigfork Anglers on Mill Street, the events will take place from 5 to 7 p.m.
