Fears stirred of drivers being blinded by the light

Kalispell Police Department received a report from someone who said that a truck reportedly had “one hell of a bright light that they are shining into people’s cars,” and was afraid that they were going to “blind” someone, causing an accident.

A woman called police when she reportedly couldn’t find the owner of a truck whose unskillful parking left her car blocked in. While officers located the truck’s owner, she told them that she needed to get her child and would crawl into her vehicle from the passenger side window. The man was eventually located and said he would move his vehicle.

A man came home from work to allegedly discover someone had unbolted and stolen a bumper on his vehicle.

A vehicle fire was extinguished by Kalispell Fire Department on Main and Idaho.

An intoxicated man called police from the Woodland Park gazebo and asked for a ride home, saying he couldn’t walk, had fallen and hurt his shoulder, but didn’t need an ambulance. When dispatchers asked for his name he purportedly said “thank you,” and hung up.

A swerving vehicle was spotted running a red light, speeding through a construction zone and running up onto a curb while driving on U.S. 93. Police located the driver, who, by this time, had parked at a store and said he was getting medication. Police advised him about driving intoxicated. The man said he would get a ride home.

Someone allegedly heard two “blood curdling” screams for help from a woman across the street, loud knocking on a fence and saw a garage door partially open before closing, but didn’t see anyone. Officers went to the house where all the hoopla was allegedly happening, but the residents denied any argument took place.

A man stuck in a drive-thru became hostile when reporting a man in line behind him had to get out of his vehicle to wake up a drunk driver. The caller reportedly wanted to remain anonymous and told dispatchers “If you’re going to do something f------ do something.” Then he called back to complain again, this time giving his name.

A rifle in a case was found in the parking lot of a store. A later call came in from a man claiming to be the owner.

Someone was concerned about a neighbor allegedly leaving a 2-year-old home alone.

Someone thought it was suspicious that a truck was parked by the garage of a foreclosed house. The person also complained about high school students reportedly hanging out at the house smoking marijuana.

A Waverly Place resident called the Whitefish Police Department about a large black bear that was walking down the road. He said it wasn’t menacing, just taking a stroll. Another resident came to the department to complain about the bear. Officers weren’t able to locate it.

An officer cited a man for being a stow-away on the Amtrak train.

A caller was concerned about a helicopter that had flown over her residence dozens of times during the day.

Someone reported a rock had been thrown through a window of a Second Street residence.

A woman called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to report teenagers taking turns lying on the road while they waited for the school bus. She said she nearly hit one of them as she drove on Willow Glen Drive.

A deputy advised a man to take photos of another person’s dog “doing its business” on his lawn and other neighbor’s grass in order to bring the canine’s owner to justice.

Two Haywire Trail residents reportedly engaged in a dispute recently. The woman, who brandished a hose, said the man struck her with a cane. Neither of the combatants wanted to pursue charges.

The driver of a black SUV, who nearly hit another motorist while talking on her phone, allegedly stuck her tongue out at the person who told her to hang up.

A later call came in from someone reporting a black SUV had driven past her “like a bat out of hell” near the hospital.

Someone reported three guns were taken from a vehicle. The caller didn’t know when it happened.

A caller said a man and a woman were arguing as they walked west on U.S. 2. The caller said it appeared the woman had walked away and the man had chased her, but it proved to be two people searching for a missing cell phone.

A search was on for a young man with a multi-colored Mohawk who allegedly harassed the caller’s two kids when they walked home from school. The man reportedly grabbed the older boy’s backpack and ripped it. The man wasn’t located.

A couple were charged after a man was accused of stealing a meat grinder. The woman was cited and released.

A caller learned she would have to build a fence if she wanted her neighbor’s horses and goat to stop coming into her area because it was free-range ground.
