Volleyball Libby stays perfect, belts Browning

LIBBY — The Libby Loggers stayed perfect on the volleyball season with a 25-7, 25-10, 25-11 win over Browning in Northwest A Conference play on Saturday.

Libby is 12-0 overall and 9-0 in conference.

“That’s what happens when you have a class of six seniors and underclassmen that are pretty good, too,” Libby coach Cindy Ostrem-Johnston said.

“We won our match Tuesday in Columbia Falls and finshed off with a win against Browning. I was proud of them for staying focused as well as they did with all the (homecoming) activities going on this week.”

Jayden Winslow posted 11 kills and 18 digs, Emma Gruber had 11 digs and two service aces and Alli Collins had 38 set assists.

For Browning, Dulci Skunkcap had three kills, three blocks and a service ace. Payton Crossguns had 13 digs and Hayley Bullshoe had seven set assists.

MISSOULA – Glacier swept Big Sky in straight sets 25-19, 25-18, 25-20 in Western Class AA play.

Glacier improves to 7-13 overall, 2-6 conference.

The Wolfpack’s Kaylee Fritz recorded all 30 set assists, while Kali Gulick had 11 kills, four blocks and five service aces.

For Big Sky, Shelby Lenox had 11 digs and Elizabeth Clauson had six kills.

EUREKA – In District 7B play, Eureka knocked off Bigfork 25-9, 25-12, 25-17.

Avory Escobar recorded 38 set assists and three service aces, while Sienna Utter had nine kills and nine digs.

For the Valkyries, Aubrey Halverson had one block and 12 set assists and Jaclyn Saunders had two service aces and five digs.

Stillwater improves to 15-4 overall, 8-0 conference.

“We have been working hard at pushing hard once we hit the 20s,” Stillwater coach Diane Smith said of set scores.

“Tonight the girls did a great job finishing strong.”

POLSON — Polson defeated rival Ronan 24-26, 25-20, 25-20, 25-18 in Northwest A Conference play.

Paige Noyes led Polson in digs with 15 and aces with eight. Maggie Todd had 16 of the Pirates’ 43 kills.

Tiana Ulutoa was Ronan’s leader in assists (25) and she shared the ace lead with Kiana King, both with two.

Madison Clairmont had 12 of Ronan’s 36 kills.
