Janice Smallbrook, 86

| October 7, 2018 4:00 AM

Our mother, Janice Smallbrook, was born in California on May 1, 1932, to Jack and Mildred Berry.

She was married to Henry Smallbrook and they enjoyed many years together. He preceded her in death.

She started working early in life as a waitress and was a very hard worker.

She had a love for dogs all her life. She had a dog named Spooky, and another dog later in life named Tequila that she and Dad gave lots of love and a good home to. There is one other dog named Dakota whom she loved and spoiled everyday and I know he will surely miss her.

There are four surviving children, Randy Smallbrook, Pam Smallbrook, Judy Knox and Sue Smallbrook. She has three grandsons, Dustin Knox, Geoffrey and Ryan Hoberg; and one granddaughter, Leeann Stearns. She has nine great-grandkids, Tiauna, Sierra, Karrie, Wyatt, Little Dustin, Jackson, Tyler, Madison and Paisley, all whom she loved dearly.

Randy and his wife Carolyn were very much a comfort to Mom, as they would talk to her. Carolyn has a way with words to make Mom feel good and Randy, of course, remembers her tamale pie dinners.

Pam remembers Mom brushing her long hair and helping her with homework.

Sierra remembers her going to her basketball and volleyball games.

Karrie and Wyatt remember watching “Karate Kid” with her.

Her family here in Montana enjoyed the last 10 years with her coming to live with us. We had many good trips together and we are very thankful we spent that time with her. She was my best friend and made awesome peanut butter cookies.

She was also blessed to have Bill and Joyce Spicer of Nevada as very dear friends of the family for over 50 years. Thank you, Joyce, for being there for her.

Mom was a strong person, a little stubborn and had a good sense of humor. She passed on June 22, 2018, at the ages of 86. She will be missed for sure.

Rest in peace, Mom. We love you always.
