| October 7, 2018 4:00 AM

On Sept. 28, 2018, William “Bumps” Paul Winter, 89, passed away at Kalispell Regional Medical Center surrounded by loved ones.

Bumps was born Aug. 5, 1929, in Great Falls to Thomas and Alice Winter, the youngest of five children. He lived in Great Falls, Seattle and Kalispell where he graduated from Flathead County High School in 1948.

Through the years he worked as a pin setter at Skyline Bowl, several lumber mills, Columbia Falls Aluminum Plant, Buffalo Hill Golf Course, Hardees and as a referee.

For fun he loved to play pool, fish and hunt, and enjoyed baseball, bowling and golfing, playing cribbage and pinochle, doing puzzles and growing a garden.

Among his accomplishments are bowling the first 300 game here, 10 holes-in-one, and he was a member of the Eagles Aerie 234 for over 70 years.

He’ll be remembered for his sense of humor and quick wit, as he was always ready with a joke or a humorous tale. But above all, he loved his family. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Bumps was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Marylyn and Doris, brother Thomas, and wives Margie and Bonnie.

He is survived by his sister, Genevieve; daughters, Della Kienas of Kalispell and Sandra Winter of Phoenix; son, Robert “Bob” Winter of Kalispell; stepdaughters, Lori Nelson of Kalispell, Tammy Bohland of Lakeside, Cindy Pilcher of Seattle, and Debbie Robinson of Idaho; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 13 at the VFW Club in Kalispell.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home is caring for the family.
