University Roadshow making stops in Northwest Montana

The Montana University System Research Roadshow arrives in Western Montana Oct. 24-26 with stops in Missoula, Polson, Kalispell and Libby.

The road show features speakers traveling to 25 towns throughout Montana during the month of October to share 10-minute research stories.

Presentations include “Fix it or Face it! Ecological Restoration in Butte, America” by Robert Pal from Montana Tech; “Mechatronics Design” by Steve Shen from Missoula College-University of Montana; “Geochemistry and Life: From Supervolcanoes to Silver Bow Creek” by Alysia Cox from Montana Tech; “A Hidden Layer of the Genetic Code and Neurologic Disease” by Lynn George from Montana State University-Billings; “Saving Fluvial Arctic Grayling One Class at a Time” by Robert Thomas from the University of Montana Western; and “Wildfire, Drought, and Residential Risk Perceptions in the Rocky Mountains” by Christopher Craig from Montana State University-Billings.

The tour begins in Missoula on Oct. 24 at 5 p.m. in the University Center Theatre on the University of Montana’s campus.

On Oct. 25, the road show heads north with a noon event in Polson at the Confederated Salish, Pend d’Oreille, and Kootenai Tribes Senior Citizens Center and a 5 p.m. event in Kalispell in room 144 of Flathead Valley Community College’s Arts and Technology Building.

On Oct. 26, the show will present in Libby at noon in the Libby Senior Citizens Center.
