Maynard Vinson Denna Sr., 78
Maynard Vinson Denna Sr. passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, at his home.
Maynard was born Dec.11, 1939, in Susanville, California, to Gus and Pearl Denna. He was the youngest of nine children. At the age of 6, his parents moved to a farm in Standish, California. He met his sweetheart and love of his life, W. LaVonea Hyatt, in high school. They were married in the fall after graduation, and would have celebrated 59 years this month. During the early years of their marriage he worked as a logger, in an auto body shop, and as a delivery driver. He was a loving and dedicated provider for his wife and their six children.
He served in the National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserve, where he received the sharp shooter award. Not only did he serve his beloved country, he served in his community as a volunteer firefighter, Scout master, and various callings within his church. After a family vacation to Montana, he had the desire to raise his family in Big Sky Country. In 1979 he purchased all the Montana franchises for Chem-Dry Carpet Cleaning and moved his family to Kalispell, where they have remained.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, yard saleing, and using his imagination to create numerous unique and one-of-a-kind items. His greatest treasure was his family, and the love he had for them was absolute. His legacy of love will continue within his family and friends. He was fun loving and always had a joke or entertaining story.
He was preceded in death by his son Benjamin Denna, his grandsons Donny Hall and Brian Webb, seven of his siblings, and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, W. LaVonea Denna; his children, Connie (Tracy) Hall of Bassano, Alberta, Brenda Webb of Kalispell, Barbara Denna of Kalispell, Maynard Jr. (Tami) of Kalispell, and Larue (Jeremy) Dratah; as well as 21 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, his extended family, and many close friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1380 Whitefish Stage Road in Kalispell on Monday Oct. 22. Viewing will be at 10 a.m., with services at 11 am. Interment will follow at Glacier Memorial Gardens.
