Stillwater finishes second at MCAA state volleyball

BOZEMAN — Foothills Community Christian School defeated Stillwater Christian School 22-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-13 in the championship match at the Montana Christian Athletic Association state volleyball tournament on Saturday.

Stillwater (23-6) lost in the semifinals to Foothills on Friday, then battled back in the double-elimination event on Saturday by topping Yellowstone County Homeschool 25-8, 26-24, 25-17.

Sydney Mckerrow had three of Stillwater’s eight aces. Abby Hudson totaled eight of Stillwater’s 29 kills, Ramey Metzger had all but two of the team’s 30 assists, Helen Hashley claimed five of the nine blocks and Selah Neumann was the dig leader with 15. Stillwater had 60.

“I am very proud of these ladies,” Stillwater coach Diane Smith said. “They didn’t come out with the win, but they finished strong.” We have had a season of adjusting.”
