'Wild and crazy guy' didn't want mattress

Someone called the Whitefish Police Department about a “wild and crazy guy” who picked up a mattress he had posted for sale. He said the man bargained the price down, then took it outside and said he didn’t want it. The caller said the man had long, shoulder-length hair and looked like one of the Russians that were on Saturday Night Live.

A woman said a man in a red pickup tailgated her and when she pulled over, he yelled at her and gestured in a profane manner.

Someone said a man was huffing gas from a nozzle at an area convenience store.

When an officer found the suspect vehicle, there was no one around or in it.

A woman driving to work said she saw a big bear that had tipped over a dumpster.

A black bear with a faulty rear paw was foraging in a person’s garbage on Glenwood Road. The bear wasn’t aggressive, though.

A stray black terrier was accused of killing a person’s chickens at a home on KM Ranch Road.

A man told the Kalispell Police Department he was charged by two snarling dogs, a black Lab and a yellow Lab, while running on Seventh Avenue. He wasn’t bitten, but he said he could have been if he hadn’t kicked at them. When an officer spoke to the owner of the animals, he said his brother mistakenly let the dogs out. He also said he would get a padlock for the gate.

A person who was kicked out of a store left his backpack inside and the employees wouldn’t return it. The pack was later returned but the man was told to stay out of the store because of his inappropriate behavior.

A caller said a man who was arguing with a woman shoved her to the ground, but did help her up. When an officer spoke to both parties, she said she had tripped.

When a woman was done with work, she was dismayed to find an unknown person had smashed the rear window of her Volkswagen Passat.

An obese black Lab that suffered from diarrhea was turned over to the county animal shelter after it was found wandering in a neighborhood. No one knew who the animal belonged to.

A caller said a man with short hair, light blond to red tinted in color, may be responsible for the theft of packages that were delivered by a FedEx driver.

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office took a report about a bunch of feral cats living under a trailer. When the caller was told animal control doesn’t pick up cats, she became angry and abusive, uttering profanities at the dispatcher.

Someone said a school bus had been stolen and was pulled behind a truck driven by two men. As it turned out, the bus was part of a tax sale. A 911 call came from a fussing child. The mother said there wasn’t an emergency.

When a mother told her 14-year-old son to stop playing video games, he came after her with a knife. When officers arrived, arrangements were made to have the boy leave with his father.
