Our children deserve a better world
I was born a little before The Great War. I ‘m not sure why it deserved that name. I was too young to remember much about it, aside from being afraid of the first blimp I ever saw, thinking it was a bomb.
The other thing I remember is having a nightmare of a Japanese soldier chasing me.
I guess that makes me old, but I ‘m not dead yet. I still have things to say.
I’ve seen a fair amount of history in this country. It was hard fought and bard won. There were struggles and victories. There were crosses burning, people killed because they were simply different, not worse, Just different. There were riots, then marches. There were programs that elevated people that needed kindness and compassion. That also elevated my country to the greatest country on the face of the earth.
My country cared about people-individuals as well as the whole. We came to understand the survival of humanity depends on realizing what Jesus taught. We need to understand that every soul is entitled to what was promised in the Bill of Rights: Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. THAT’S WHAT MARES AMERICA GREAT.
We accomplished great things in our greatness. We established civil liberties, honoring peoples rights to be who they are, not who we think they should be. We made laws to protect individuals.
We made great scientific discoveries that help people and the planet. We walked on the moon, for God’s sake. We found medical miracles to make life better for people.
I am saddened by what I see now. I see pieces of the foundation of our great democracy being eroded by greed, hate, fear, doing everything imaginable to eliminate voter rights [we all know who’s], putting innocent children in cages like dogs.
Do the ends ever justify these means?
We are blowing off the like-minded countries that have worked with us to create a better, more fair world and are replacing our allegiance with tyrannical, cruel, murderous alliances. We are being led by hate, divisiveness, and blatant lies. Record amount of lies.
And now the president wants to weaponize space. What could go wrong there?
Anything to garner more power for self-aggrandizement.
We’re excusing a murderous country that not only kills reporters, but brutally tortures them, cutting them in pieces. Fifteen of them attacked our country on 911. No push back on that.
It’s pretty hard to discount the Prince when fifteen flew in on government planes with bone saws, murdered a man, sent in the cleaning crew and no one in the Consulate noticed. Why are we giving them a pass on this? Money.
I don’t know about you, but I have grandchildren, and I want them to live in a better world than the one that’s being created by the lying, money/power grabbers that are debasing our world today.
