Weapons drawn in campground tantrum

| September 5, 2018 8:41 PM

According to a Flathead County Sheriff’s report, a man allegedly stepped into a scuffle between a campground host and a tenant when the host allegedly pulled the tenant off his bike, demanding to know where he got it. Once the host realized the man on the bike was a tenant, he gave the bike back and apologized, but not before each man reportedly pulled a weapon — one a pocketknife and the other a shovel. A passerby allegedly separated the two men and called 911. No one decided to press charges and dispatch advised against going after people with a shovel.

Someone reportedly broke into a fifth-wheel trailer on Lost Prairie Road, breaking the lock on a gate, a skylight and the front door, messing up the bed and taking nothing.

A Columbia Falls woman called 911 screaming that she and her dog were being attacked by hornets on 3rd Street. The woman was rushed to the hospital and the dog taken to an animal clinic for multiple stings.

Someone called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report multiple people for sleeping in tents under the footbridge in the park. An officer couldn’t find anyone when he investigated.

A caller reported a woman was parked on the viaduct. Upon further investigation, officers determined she was picking flowers.

Another caller said a vehicle was parked along the road and the trailer was sticking out in the road. It turned out the people had run out of gas.

A woman said her little sister was locked inside the car. However, it was running with the air conditioning on. An officer said the department didn’t have equipment to open the car but that someone would help her. She had to wait until a locksmith could arrive.

Two men reportedly got into a heated confrontation in a parking lot when the reporting party allegedly pulled into his driveway. The second party approached the driver, yelling at him because his headlights were on. The caller said the man loiters around the library every night to use the Wi-Fi.

A man reportedly locked his fiance out of the house during a night of heavy drinking, according to the fiance. Police told the couple to stay away from each other, but he did later allow her to return to the residence.
