Flathead spikers fall in semis at Electric City Invite

GREAT FALLS – All in all, it was a decent weekend for Flathead volleyball at the Electric City Invitational. The Bravettes went 4-1 Friday in pool play, earning them a spot in the championship bracket on Saturday.

Flathead defeated crosstown rival Glacier 22-25, 25-23, 15-13 on the final day, but lost to Helena Capital 25-13, 25-19 and Missoula Sentinel 26-24, 25-11, 15-9 in the semifinals.

“Overall it was a great weekend,” coach Nicole Fairclough said.

“We won Thursday night against Billings West and then we had some really great things happen — taking first in our gym yesterday and beating Glacier’s always a big success for us. We had some really good things but we also definitely have some things to work on this week before we start conference play.”

Deer Lodge 3, Bigfork 1

Bigfork — Deer Lodge beat Bigfork 24-26, 25-15, 25-23, 25-10 in Class B play.

The Valkyries are 1-2 overall.

Deer Lodge’s Sophia Barton notched 12 kills and Emily Miller had 20 assists. Aubrey Halvorsen had all 20 of Bigfork’s team assists. Juniper Johnson had four service aces for Bigfork.

Lauren Schulz had 12 of 21 team assists and two service aces. Kaiah Moore recorded seven kills and seven digs, while Jasmine Metern had two service aces and Marlee Bender had three blocks for WHS.
