| September 8, 2018 4:00 AM

John Patrick McMenamin, 69, died on Aug. 27, 2018.

John was born on Dec. 15, 1948, to Raymond and Ernestine McMenamin in Pasadena, California, the fifth of nine children. He attended Saint Elizabeth grade school in Altadena and graduated from Mater Dei High School in Costa Mesa, California.

In 1979, John’s son McKay was born, and in the early ‘80s they moved to Kalispell looking for a simpler life. John enjoyed hunting, boating and fishing in the mountains. John’s buddies would tell you that he had a flair for fish stories.

In 2002, John got re-acquainted with his high school sweetheart, Trudy (Roepke) Giesing, and they married on July 5 of that year. After a 20-year career at Semitool in Kalispell, John retired and he and Trudy moved back to California. John was an avid golfer, and he loved puttering around in the garage, barbecuing with the family and playing with his nine grandchildren in the pool.

John is survived by his wife, Trudy McMenamin; son, McKay McMenamin, and his family; stepchildren, John Giesing, Heidi Chokeir, Lucas Giesing and their families; brothers, Gerald and James McMenamin; and sisters, Catherine Hansen and Rosalie Lovett.

John was predeceased by his parents, as well as siblings Joseph, Richard, Thomas and Mary McMenamin.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, at Santa Sophia Catholic Church in Spring Valley, California.
