Bigfork spikers win big on homecoming

BIGFORK – The Lady Valkyries won a thriller over rival Eureka Thursday on homecoming night, 25-17, 29-31, 25-19, 25-22.

“It was a great win for us,” Bigfork coach Schuyler Tudor said. “It was homecoming and my three seniors played their hearts out.”

Senior Jaclyn Saunders had 18 kills, while Ahna Fox and Brooke Fraley each had 14 kills.

“They fought really hard,” Tudor said. “It was a special night for them because it was against Eureka and all three of them were in the homecoming court.”

Ronan 0, Whitefish 3

WHITEFISH – Whitefish dominated Ronan on its homecoming night, 25-7, 25-9, 25-13.

“We had a great game,” Whitefish coach Addy Connelly said. “The girls have been working on a faster offense so they were able to put in into play tonight.”

Marlee Bender had a big night at the net with 12 kills. Lauren Schulz had 17 assists and three service aces.

“Really supportive crowd for homecoming. A lot of positive energy. They weren’t letting anything hit the floor tonight.”

For Ronan, Tiana Ulutoa recorded six assists and one service ace. Madeline McCrea had five kills and two blocks.

COLUMBIA FALLS – The Wildkats handily defeated Polson 25-15, 25-16, 25-15.

“We played fairly well against Polson — our goal was to play consistent and keep the errors on their side of the net,” Columbia Falls coach Jolandie Brooks said. “Hannah Schweikert served six aces, and she set our offense up well. Ryley Kehr, Stella Bistodeau and Mady Hoerner found ways to put the ball down. Angellica Street and Savvy Ellis controlled the back row well.”

Kehr had 11 kills and two blocks while Bistodeau and Hoerner recorded eight kills apiece. Schweikert had 27 assists in addition to her six service aces.

Polson’s Shea McGuinness had eight assists, 13 digs and three service aces. Mikaela DuCharme and Maggie Todd were strong at the net with six kills each.

TROY – Plains nipped host Troy 25-9, 25-14, 25-13.

At the net. Kylee Altmiller had nine kills for Plains, while Haley Josephson had 14 assists.

For Troy, Annie Day led with 10 kills, seven digs and two service aces. Ella Pierce recorded six kills.
