Straw-bale maze opens at organic farm

Whitefish Stage Organic Farms has opened a straw bale maze containing 4,000 bales and estimated at approximately 20,000 square feet

Shaped like a tractor, built entirely out of straw, the maze took about four weeks and hundreds of hours to assemble. The maze will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday through Oct. 28 . General admission is $8 and is free for children 2 years and younger with an adult with a special discount for groups of 10 or more. As well as the maze, general admission includes a barrel train ride, hay wagon ride, mini-maze puzzle, giant inflatable pillow, super trampoline, a barn-jungle gym, corn play bins, corn-hole, pumpkin bowling, farm-animals petting zoo, access to the food truck and a 100 percent organic pumpkin patch.

As well as the other activities, the farm has its own food truck serving farm burgers with local grass fed beef and farm veggies as well as fresh apple cider and baked goods using the farm’s produce. The farm also hosts groups and birthday parties. The farm will also be selling its pumpkins, beef and other produce during this time.

Whitefish Stage Organic Farms is a 65-acre certified organic farm at 2288 Whitefish Stage Road, about 1 mile north of West Reserve Drive. It started in 2016 and has close to 20 acres of fruit and vegetable production. The produce is supplied to the approximately 200 members who participate in their vegetable share, as well as local grocery stores and restaurants.
