Wife needs place to train for NASCAR

A couple had a need for speed when a husband asked a dispatcher to ask the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office where his wife could speed because she had a “race car” and supposedly wanted to train for NASCAR.

A Bigfork woman was purportedly involved in a “romance scam.” She told deputies bank employees told her to report that a man asked her to send a money order to Turkey for a part to be shipped to him in Oklahoma. The man was supposedly going to send a gift; she wanted law enforcement to check for “bugs,” and make sure it was safe. Law enforcement advised her she could get assistance if she believed an item was stolen or a safety hazard. By this point, the woman may have decided to stop speaking to the man and change her phone number.

A Bigfork 14-year-old called 911 crying and reportedly told dispatchers her dad and stepmother were taking her to an unknown location. The father then called 911 to tell them she was not being kidnapped, but was going to the airport to travel back to her mother.

A Timber Lane resident in Whitefish didn’t like vehicles parking on the street in front of his house and was told by people they could do that and there was nothing he could do about it. The resident’s questions were answered, but there reportedly wasn’t anything that could be enforced.

A woman on Gilbert Lake Drive in Kalispell purportedly called law enforcement before, but called again because she forgot what an officer told her about getting someone she let stay in her backyard to leave.

A man told officers his sister was not supposed to be on his Third Avenue property in Martin City and was concerned that she was, after telling her numerous times she couldn’t. Deputies checked the residence and no one answered, but told the man they would attempt to contact her again.

A scared Columbia Falls woman hid in her truck, alleging her uncle tried to block her in her grandfather’s house, was yelling and reportedly unlocked a bedroom door and “forced” her grandfather out of the house. The alleged ruckus was over a nursing home.

A business on Montana 35 in Bigfork reported damaged windows that appeared to have been shot out.

Someone on Montana 35 in Evergreen saw a man and woman fighting. He claimed the man may have been drinking, and when he drinks, is belligerent.

About four cats, possibly as many as 10, were left behind on Evergreen Drive when residents were evicted. Officers left food and talked to a man thought to be a co-owner who reportedly was uncertain of what they were going to do with the cats that were supposedly strays.

A “very intoxicated” man left an establishment on Hodgson Road in Whitefish and was swerving all over the road and speeding.

Someone on Gamma Road in Hungry Horse requested extra patrol after seeing three men wearing dark hoodies walking on the side of the road at night.

Kalispell Police Department responded to a report that a red vehicle pulled into a parking lot on U.S. 2 E. and a male passenger waved a pistol around screaming someone’s name and saying, “I’m here for you.”

A lone suitcase seen in a store parking lot on Hutton Ranch Road appeared to both attract and repel people when someone allegedly saw a man get out of a van and pick it up, but ultimately put it back down. Then, other vehicles were said to have “pulled up close to it” for a look, but didn’t touch the mysterious suitcase.

Police received a report that possibly three kids were huffing compressed air duster cans in a parking lot on Third Street West.

A mother’s alarm bells sounded when she told police her children and their friends had reportedly been approached by a man on a playground and the man had been “going around the complex” and “possibly trying to kidnap children.”

Two teenagers allegedly shot pellet guns at deer behind someone’s condo.

A man allegedly tried to return two coats that were previously stolen from the location in exchange for gift cards. Employees reportedly had the incident recorded on surveillance footage.

Someone believed a panhandler they saw was a wanted man.

A bandanna-wearing, drooling canine was spotted running around and barking at people.

A transient-looking man allegedly blocked a park’s walking path, so someone couldn’t walk by and requested extra patrol. The person claimed “this occurs every year when it gets nice.”

A woman told police her fence was damaged some time during the night.

Badrock North Fire Department responded to a grass fire around 8 p.m. Tuesday. A Covill Lane resident in Columbia Falls reported the field next to his house was on fire and appeared to be an out-of-control burn pile.

A second call came in about the fire by someone on Hawk Lane. The fire was reportedly a 12-acre wind-driven surface fire.
