Flathead girls, boys drop CMR in track

Flathead dominated a Class AA dual track meet with Great Falls C.M. Russell on Friday at Legends Stadium.

The Bravettes placed first in 15 of the 17 events en route to a 125-19 triumph.

The Flathead girls swept the top three places in the 100, 1,600, 100 and 300 hurdles, high jump and pole vault.

The Flathead boys won 11 events and swept the 100, 800 and pole vault for a 78-67 victory.

It was the second meet of the week, and the season, for Flathead.

“For many of the kids, today it was still their first event of the season,” Flathead boys coach Dan Hodge said.

“You always have those first meet jitters.”

Hodge said some of the athletes, boys and girls, “found out today what their ability level is. The kids haven’t been on the track enough yet to worry about times and distances.”

Seth Moon was a triple winner (high jump, long jump and triple jump) for Flathead.

Placing in two events for FHS were Tori Noland-Gillespie (400 and 1,600), Skyleigh Thompson (100 and 300 hurdles), Madison Boles (200 and high jump) and Camas Rinehart (100 and 300 hurdles).

Flathead will compete in the Flathead Mini-Invitational at Legends Stadium on Tuesday with Glacier, Polson, Libby, Whitefish, Columbia Falls, Bigfork and Eureka.

Glacier boys, girls sweep Great Falls High

GREAT FALLS — The Glacier boys won 11 events for an 81-64 AA dual win while the Glacier girls had 10 firsts en route to an 89-56 victory.

Double winners for Glacier were Dyllyn Stabler (100 and 200), Taylor Brisendine (100 and 300 hurdles) and Mya McNeely (shot put and discus). Brisendine also finished second in the triple jump.
